Ukraine

Since the escalation of the war in February 2022, until mid-October 2024, nearly 6.8 million refugees4 from Ukraine have been recorded – 92 per cent of them in Europe. Inside Ukraine, an estimated 3.6 million people5 remain internally displaced as of October 2024.

Among the most vulnerable are also an estimated 12.6 million as of March 2025 people who were not displaced from their homes but who have been directly affected by the war – they have been wounded, their homes have been destroyed, their family members died.

Civilian infrastructure, such as power grids, water supply networks. hospitals transportation infrastructure, have been targeted by the daily missile attacks, severely disrupting people’s lives across the whole country, and particularly in the East.

About 3 600 educational institutions, including nearly

2 000 schools,

have suffered damage with some 371 educational facilities totally destroyed since the escalation of the war.
There were over

2 100 attacks

on healthcare facilities, which have claimed at least 197 lives, including those of health workers and patients, and injured many more, severely disrupting health services.

“Putin is targeting our children, our civilians!” says Vitali Klitschko, commenting on further tragic events in Ukraine. The Russians have fired on thermal power plants near Vinnitsa and in Lviv. Strategic points on the country’s map are becoming targets of attacks. Thousands of people are deprived of heating and communications. With the coming cold weather, this means they are forced to flee their homes. We are at the scene. Today, aid will reach the inhabitants of the shelled Kiev, tomorrow Dnipro.

Our partners in Dnipro report that hundreds of internally displaced people are fleeing the city, for whom until yesterday the city was a relatively safe haven. It no longer is. The sirens do not stop wailing. More shells are falling on the city. We will not be able to distribute food today. We have planned it for tomorrow. Around 100-150 people will receive aid each day. Food rations in particular are needed. Shops have been closed since yesterday.

After the attack on the cleaning products factory in Kharkiv, the shortage of basic hygiene products may worsen. Our shipment is on its way to Kiev to deliver soap, shampoos, sanitary pads and baby cosmetics to those in need. It will arrive on site today.

We are not slowing down. We are preparing to distribute power generators in the most critical areas. We are also continuously monitoring the situation in the border region.

Do not let yourselves be told that we have helped enough, that now let the Ukrainians fend for themselves. Comments about an imaginary war, evil Ukrainians, pointless aid, flood internet forums. We are constantly fighting against comments ridiculing our actions and the need to reach out to those affected. Every day, however, we also look into the terrified eyes of people who ask us for help. We cannot, we must not, pass by them with indifference.
