Children from Lwiątko are waiting for our help

Ukraine

On the 24th of February 2022, Russia launched a military offensive into Ukraine, causing civilian casualties and destroying the country’s infrastructure. More than a quarter of the population has been forced to flee their homes. In the first few weeks, more than 4.3 million refugees fled Ukraine, and a second as many were internally displaced. It is the fastest growing refugee crisis since World War II.

We cannot be indifferent to the suffering of our neighbours – we immediately set out to help!

Children in Ukraine need our help.

We are visiting Lwiątko again. Right here, in this small village kindergarten, which at the beginning of the war became a shelter for children evacuated from Zhytomyr, our next good producing factory has been set up! Together we can help children in need in Ukraine.

Lwiątko is for us, without a doubt, an example of the wonderful heroism of the local community. In the first days of the war, bombs fell near the home for orphans and children with unregulated legal status in Zhytomyr. 55 kids and staff found shelter right here in a rural kindergarten in eastern Ukraine. There was nothing in the facility. Mattresses, food, nappies and teddy bears were brought by villagers. We are here because, although the enthusiasm of these people to help has not run out, their capacity to do so has. It really is a very poor area.

We have already brought supplies here. There is enough food and cleaning products for another month. Now we are organising ourselves to help with the next challenges. A pipe burst in the kitchen this morning and there is still a problem with washing and drying the children’s clothes, but we know that thanks to you we will be able to give them what they need.

Today we came back here to fulfil one little wish that the kids had. Seeing how a dozen or so of them are gazing at cartoons played on the teacher’s phone, we decided to create a real TV room for them. You gave them a TV set and from now on they can immerse themselves in the world of stories thanks to a much bigger screen. With our unexpected visit, we brought them a lot of joy and evoked tears of gratitude. We showed that we listen to every desire, even the smallest ones.

But the most important thing is that the kids at the Zhytomyr home feel safe here. They do not want to leave. Only recently, with the help of specialists, they have stopped reacting in panic to any sound that evokes memories of falling bombs. Let us help them not only to cope with the memories and the fear of war, but also to create a warm home for them and to rebuild a childhood of which life has tried to deprive them many times before.

Join our urgent fundraiser! It’s not just about money, but about giving these children a sense of security. Enough of running away from problems, enough of worrying about whether there will be something to eat tomorrow. Let’s build them a safe HOME! We counted: food and hygiene supplies, sensory toys of which there are none (and which would be very useful for the tutors), a washing machine, a dryer – all this amounts to 19 000 PLN. Let’s take care of these children together today!
