Homelessness remains a major social issue in Poland. Tens of thousands of people living on the streets experience social exclusion. At Good Factory, we believe that every person, regardless of their past, has the inalienable right to dignity and respect.

Overview:
  • there are more than 30,000 homeless people in Poland. 84% of them are men.
  • most of them live in the Mazowieckie, Śląskie and Pomorskie voivodeships
  • every year, more than 100 people in Poland die due to cold-related causes
  • the most common reasons for homelessness are: familial conflict, addiction issues, and eviction

In the winter of 2023, we handed out

– Cold at night?

– We’re used to it. We fire up the woodstove at -10.

– How many degrees is it inside then?

– Not much more.

Allotments, caravans, shacks made of recycled boards, covered with tarpaulins.

“Election banners are good because they don’t let the water through. The candidate doesn’t matter,” laughs a man in his forties. The cold and worry have etched their way across his face and added a good 10 years.

We spend a Sunday afternoon with people whose lives have fallen apart in such a way that they are trying to piece them back together from cardboard and boards.

A few kilometers from the centre of the capital, a group of people are preparing for winter. Our Warm Package won’t change much in their lives, but it will buy them time to change things for themselves.

A sleeping bag, rucksack, thermos flask and warm blanket are not exactly camping gear. When it gets cold, they are a lifesaver.

From here you can see the lights in the warm cosy flats. The people of Warsaw are returning home. Along the road, just over our heads, cars are rushing along. This is where the lives of people who long for warmth go on. You can do something for them! Fund aWarm Package for a person in the crisis of homelessness.
