Greece

In 2015, 856,000 people passed through the Greek islands, and in 2017 and 2018 only just under 30 thousand (according to UNHCR). But 2019 brought already a growth – over 60,000 newcomers. Today, boats coming to Greek beaches are back again, and practice shows that you can get stuck in Lesbos for a good few years. Nikos and Katerina run a small restaurant on the island, where every refugee can feel at home and eat a meal for free.

Overview:
  • There are currently over 2200 refugees in the Moria camp on the Greek island of Lesbos
  • At least half of them are children
  • Since the beginning of 2015, nearly 1 million refugees have arrived in Europe via the Greek islands

No. We are not making contact with alien civilisations. We are boiling water. A few litres in just 10 minutes. Without electricity, coal, gas, or even batteries. Today at Home for All we are testing a solar cooker. A clear sky is enough to cook a meal for the whole family on this device, make tea in the meantime and heat water for the bath. Can you imagine how many problems this invention would solve in the Greek camp and… in Africa?!?!

A wonderful privilege that stems from our work and regular visits to our projects are meetings with people who are learning to provide help in a clever way and those who are already experts in it. Such acquaintances help us exchange ideas, look for new, innovative and sometimes revolutionary solutions to the problems faced by the people in our care. Thanks to such people, nothing is impossible, and thanks to you, we can not only dream about the impossible, but simply make it a reality.

Give us a High Five! Do this regularly by setting up a standing order. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes. 5 PLN donated once a week is only 20 PLN a month. Let us convince you of what great things we will be able to do TOGETHER!!!
