Take Murtaza's work to your home this year

Greece

In 2015, 856,000 people passed through the Greek islands, and in 2017 and 2018 only just under 30 thousand (according to UNHCR). But 2019 brought already a growth – over 60,000 newcomers. Today, boats coming to Greek beaches are back again, and practice shows that you can get stuck in Lesbos for a good few years. Nikos and Katerina run a small restaurant on the island, where every refugee can feel at home and eat a meal for free.

Overview:
  • There are currently over 2200 refugees in the Moria camp on the Greek island of Lesbos
  • At least half of them are children
  • Since the beginning of 2015, nearly 1 million refugees have arrived in Europe via the Greek islands

Murtaza, a refugee from Afghanistan, was so grateful to Katerina and Nikos for their hospitality at Home for All that he turned one of the restaurant tables into a beautiful painting of a winter landscape. We want you to take this work of art home for Christmas this year!

Every day, The Good Factory, together with the local restaurant Home for All, fights for the dignity of refugees in a camp on the Greek island of Lesbos. We provide the most vulnerable people with warm, well-balanced meals, provide first aid materials and send medical missions to the youngest. In the fight for a dignified life for the refugees, we are very much concerned with children and young people. So many of them know no other life than inside the camp boundaries. For them, we want to restore a semblance of normality, to convince them that in addition to enemies, they also have friends in this world.

We have seen more than once how important it is to create a space for children and young people where they can take a break from the overwhelming reality of camp. We invite them to Home for All for cooking, music and painting workshops. We do everything we can to make sure that in addition to all the evil that they have been experiencing for months, they also experience good, let their creativity run free, and remember their childhood and their dreams. Murtaza left his drawing on the table top to say “thank you for your hospitality”.

By purchasing this bauble, you are helping us to reach out to those most in need and to welcome them at the Christmas table.

Urgent help for flood victims

The most vulnerable are the elderly and disabled, living in remote rural areas and small towns, where reaching them is difficult. You’ll be informed about every penny spent to help them. 100% of the funds raised will go directly towards targeted, precise aid tailored to the needs of those affected.
