It is time to say goodbye to Albertine. She was very conscious about her passing. She died with a smile on her face and her last words were to the hospice staff: “You can go now. God is leading me to a beautiful peace’.
Our 17-year-old patient died a few moments ago. She left us a memory of extraordinary strength and courage in the fight against the disease, and of gratitude for every little gesture. We will remember her smile, the way she took joy in every single day.
Albertine was grateful to everyone she didn’t know but who helps the hospice and makes this place so special. Thank you for the opportunities, the medicines, for every day given to a patient at the hospice (you covered every day of Albertine’s stay). It is also thanks to you that Kabuga is not a place to die. Here one LIVES until the very end.
