Meet Gentille, our great treasure! Right now we are fighting for her life, but the fight against such a severe stage of starvation disease is not an even one. Every hour changes the balance of power, taking away or giving new chances. Again, we need you very much! Without quickly replenishing the supply of therapeutic milk, we will be helpless.
Gentille is a victim of the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, because hunger is a post-war disease. The little one’s parents fled the bombs and hid in Uganda in a refugee camp. No one helped them. Nor could they help themselves. They had lived off the land before. So in fleeing their home, they lost everything. The girl became malnourished in exile. The parents had no choice. They decided to return to their home, in the middle of the hell of war.
At the last minute, they found their way to us; a hospital and nutrition centre in Ntamugenga, still thriving despite the rebel occupation. Doctors assessed the little one’s condition as serious. Apathy and oedema are already indicative of illness but when wounds begin to appear on the body, it is already very bad.
Therapeutic milk and close paediatric care are our only weapons to win another battle for the life of a defenceless child. You can join us in the fight to save Gentille. Treatment with specialised therapeutic milk is expensive. The supply chains disrupted by the war add to this price. Every can of this life-saving substance is worth its weight in gold. Even more expensive, because no one can save Gnetille with gold, of which there is plenty. We are asking you today for PLN 15 for one life-saving meal for a three-year-old.
Let’s do it together! Let’s save Gentille!
