When Hamas entered Israel on the morning of Saturday, October 6th, Charbel’s list of worries grew even longer. Charbel does not want war.
“In Lebanon, everything has already collapsed. We already don’t know how to continue living. We don’t need a war for that.”
A Lebanese, Christian, sick, elderly man. He only wants peace. He would like to know if he will have anything to eat tomorrow, or if he will not run out of the meds he must take daily. Lebanon is bankrupt. The entire middle class, who earned money in Lebanese pounds, was dragged below the poverty line overnight.
Dr. Harouny has known Charbel for 20 years. He knows that the patient cannot be left without help because, without it, the man simply won’t survive. The sick and the poor are the first victims of any war.
Charbel doesn’t go out much. Sometimes he takes a walk around the house. He doesn’t remember the last time he was in a store. He doesn’t even look into one because he knows he can’t afford anything. He eats what his neighbors and friends give him. The house isn’t his, but the owner agreed that he and his sister could live there.
If we don’t take care of the weakest today, they may not see tomorrow. We encourage you to participate in the “Save a Senior” project. This is not “help”, not “support”, not “improve the quality of life”. It’s literally “Save”!!! Today, sick elderly people in Lebanon need to be rescued. If we don’t reach out to them, they simply won’t survive.
