Homelessness remains a major social issue in Poland. Tens of thousands of people living on the streets experience social exclusion. At Good Factory, we believe that every person, regardless of their past, has the inalienable right to dignity and respect.

Overview:
  • there are more than 30,000 homeless people in Poland. 84% of them are men.
  • most of them live in the Mazowieckie, Śląskie and Pomorskie voivodeships
  • every year, more than 100 people in Poland die due to cold-related causes
  • the most common reasons for homelessness are: familial conflict, addiction issues, and eviction

In the winter of 2023, we handed out

251

care packages with sleeping bags, coats and shoes to the homeless

– It all happened in an instant. The water swept everything away. It toppled power poles, shattered asphalt. This wasn’t just flooding; it was complete devastation. This flood was nothing like the one back in ’97.

People lost their homes, lost all their life’s belongings. The water is receding, but many places are still without power. In some areas, it’s still difficult to reach those in need, even using heavy equipment. The water has destroyed roads, bridges, the entire infrastructure.

We must act! We must act wisely! It’s not about sending just anything or everything that comes to mind. We want to help with what is specifically needed by specific people. The Good Factory team has begun working on the ground. We’re asking what’s needed today and what will be needed tomorrow.

Clearing debris, removing sludge, and drying out the buildings are the most urgent tasks that need to begin immediately. The elderly people and those with disabilities, especially from rural areas and small towns, are in dire situations, and it’s very difficult to reach them. We will tell you their stories. You’ll know exactly how each penny donated is spent to help them. 100% of the funds raised for this campaign will go towards targeted, specific aid tailored to the needs of those affected.

The flood may be subsiding, but our commitment needs to intensify now.

The funds raised will be spent on:

  • Wall-drying equipment
  • Heaters and pellets
  • Dry, warm bedding and mattresses
  • Essential cleaning supplies: gloves, shovels, rubber boots, garbage bags, buckets, mops
  • Cleaning and personal hygiene products

Time is of the essence – only now can we effectively prevent further damage and prepare the homes for reconstruction.
